Needlepoint is one of those hobbies that has a way of... expanding. One day you have a single canvas and a few skeins of thread. The next, you're surrounded by a beautiful chaos of colors, scissors, frames, and half-finished projects. Sound familiar?
The good news: getting organized doesn't have to be complicated. Here are our favorite tips for keeping your needlepoint supplies tidy, accessible, and ready to stitch.
1. Sort Your Threads by Color Family
Group your threads into warm tones, cool tones, and neutrals. This makes it easy to find the right shade quickly without digging through a tangled pile.
2. Use a Dedicated Project Bag
Keep each active project in its own bag — canvas, threads, needle, and notes all together. An XL storage bag with a zipper is perfect for this. It protects your work and makes it easy to grab and go to a stitch-in. We hope to have so really cute ones available here soon.
3. Store Frames and Canvases Flat or Rolled
Avoid folding canvases, which can crease the mesh. Store them flat in a drawer or rolled in a tube. Finished pieces in self-finishing frames can be displayed or stored upright.
4. Create a "Current Projects" Zone
Designate one spot — a basket, shelf, or bag — just for what you're actively working on. Everything else goes into storage. This keeps your workspace clear and your mind focused.
5. Label Everything
Use small tags or labels on thread bobbins, bags, and bins. It takes a few minutes upfront but saves hours of searching later.
